The local community of Emmelshausen was 13 years old when a wooden barrack was converted into an emergency church. Here, the then pastor Wilhelm Schlegelmilch gathered the small community for regular services. When the vicarage of Emmelshausen was officially established on October 18, 1948, the surrounding communities of Schwall, Basselscheid, and Liesenfeld joined as well, and in 1950, the Church of St. Hildegard was built. Today, it is the Catholic parish community of Vorderhunsrück.
