Haacks Köppsche

Rhein-Mosel-Str. 45, 56281 Emmelshausen

In the 1920s, the nature lover and globetrotter Georg Haack created a nature reserve at this site, called "Haack's Köppche", in the community forest of Morshausen, with which he expressed his admiration for the heath poet Hermann Löns, because Löns himself wanted to establish such a nature reserve in the Harz Mountains.

In the 1920s, the nature lover and globetrotter Georg Haack created a nature reserve at this location, called "Haack's Köppche", in the community forest of Morshausen, with which he expressed his admiration for the heath poet Hermann Löns, because Löns himself wanted to establish such a nature reserve in the Harz Mountains. The park was established with a lot of effort and support from the local population and was ceremoniously inaugurated in June 1929. Haack also lived there. In the following years, however, there was a lack of maintenance of the park, so that it soon fell into disrepair and was overgrown by nature. Except for a few remains of walls, nothing reminds of the "Hermann-Löns-Park" today. Later Georg Haack acquired the Neumühle, which was located a little above the Gastemühle on the Bayach. It fell victim to a fire on October 23, 1979, and only a few wall remains still remind us of it.
