05. Von Mühle zu Mühle im Baybachtal Layenmühle
56281 Schwall
The Layenmühle is located in the Schwall district in the Baybach valley.
The Layenmühle Not far from the Niederter Mill stands the Layenmühle, which was built in 1689 by the Count of the Layen and also leased as a Bannmühle. It was probably a count from the same family who built the above mentioned castle mill in Reifenthal. The last miller family Becker gave up the milling business in 1928. It is said that the robber chief Schinderhannes once found shelter in this mill when he was on the run from his henchmen. According to oral tradition, Schinderhannes often hid in the lonely mills of the Baybach valley, and we will come across more traces of him.
