The figure was made from many hundreds of stainless steel rods that were bent and welded together to create a figurative sculpture. The appearance of the stainless steel sculpture constantly changes due to the sunlight, as it reflects the light anew each time. This was a significant reason for choosing the material stainless steel. The figure is meant to radiate the tranquility that the hiker experiences when standing beside it, gazing over the Rhine Valley and the town of Oberwesel, and becoming aware that this landscape has not changed significantly over the centuries. The material stainless steel resonates with this sense of permanence. At the same time, the sculpture also evokes the iron armor of knights, thereby bearing witness to a part of the medieval history of the Rhine Valley.
