In the Holzbachtal, not far from the country hotel "Zur Katz" in Halsenbach-Ehr, there is a small Marian grotto in a rock. It is unknown who set up the Madonna in this rock niche on the slope and for what occasion. Through private initiative, the grotto was made accessible about 35 years ago and has been lovingly maintained ever since. Two benches invite you to linger.
You can reach this place from Hotel Katz via the "S4" marking, a circular path of about 4 km. But it offers even more:
the Holzbachtal, which has fortunately become more open again due to deforestation on both sides of the stream, flows into the well-known Ehrbachtalweg about 1.5 km above the Hierermühle.
