The rock art site of Gondershausen (Rhein-Hunsrück-Kreis) is considered unique in Central Europe so far. On a rock block, there is an ensemble of various animal representations that have been carved in low relief technique. The animal composition expresses a thought world whose stylistic features have parallels in Paleolithic rock and cave art. In 2011, expert opinions from internationally recognized rock art experts and the results of a research project by the association ARRATA, which was carried out in collaboration with the specialized authority (GDKE, branch office Koblenz) between 2010 and 2014, date the rock image to the Old Stone Age. Empirical evidence has been provided that this rock art is an authentic cultural monument.
